Local Presence / Incorporation

In many jurisdictions, in order to register and maintain domains legally, the governing registry requires a local presence.  This varies from full domestic incorporation requirements to having a legal resident authorized to act to some extent on your behalf. In all cases, IDS will attempt to facilitate an introduction so clients are soundly covered within a said jurisdiction.

Offshore Consulting Services

Many of our clients choose to use offshore jurisdictions for their holding and operating companies.  IDS has experience and connections to the main offshore jurisdictions used for domain related activities in europe, asia, latin america, and the caribbean. IDS works with clients to help discover which jurisdiction(s) best match individual needs, what are fair prices, which banks are most appealing, and to provide necessary introductions.

Domain Inquiry Management

IDS can handle the important task of timely processing of domain related inquiries. Within the prescribed guidelines of a client, IDS will insure that all inquiries are promptly addressed and assigned appropriate levels of priority. This provides peace of mind that an important purchase or legal letter is acted upon immediately, while the hundreds or even thousands of superficial and fishing offers can be filtered out. 

Domain Portfolio Management

In principle, maintaining an existing portfolio is simple as it requires renewals at the appropriate time each year.  In practice, especially for a portfolio of 10s of thousands of names and across multiple jurisdictions, it's worthwhile to have an active domain manager.  IDS domain management services include insuring all domains are renewed on time, transfers of new acquisitions go through to your registrar of choice, and fraudulent or hijacking issues are stopped immediately.

Domain Sales Negotiation

IDS acts on behalf of clients to negotiate the sale of domains.  For most clients this means negotiating with a certain multiple in mind and for a subset of the entire portfolio.  The most popular feature of this service for clients is the ability to filter out insincere purchases before forwarding the interested party onto the seller.   

Domain Monetization

For the most part, IDS outsources this service entirely to 3rd party parking companies.  However, due to economies of scale and relationships with these companies, we are able to expect higher revenue shares than an individual domain portfolio owner would enjoy.  To some extent we will also help with finding the most appropriate parking company for individual domains, however in the majority of cases, monetization is something portfolio holders prefer to handle themselves. 

Domain Policing

For participating clients, IDS takes our Domain Inquiry Management service one step further and actively responds to infringement inquiries.  Where the case represents and obvious and clear violation, IDS is authorized to immediately action the domain to return it to the TM holder.  Our experience is that this prompt reaction promotes increased overall health of the portfolio and over time, leads to a clean and lower risk asset. 

Domain Drop Catching

IDS maintains the ability to both watch and snipe for desired domains within certain jurisdictions including often domain tasting.  This service is not open to all clients.
